Finance professionals are needed in every industry – from hospitality and retail to business services and transport. In fact, the UK government recently reported that 2.5 million people in the UK work in financial services or related fields (State of the sector: annual review of UK financial services, 2023).
But there's also a big shift happening. According to the Financial Services Skills Commission, the sector is expected to lose 260,000 skilled workers by 2035 due to retirement (People + Technology report, 2023). This means financial services need new talent with up-to-date skills to fill these roles.
When you study finance at Walbrook, you're joining a global community with over 140 years of experience in finance education. On top of our degrees, we offer professional qualifications in finance and banking – trusted by the industry.

Walbrook has been at the heart of finance education for over 145 years. We started out serving the banking industry, and today we’re still helping shape the future of finance. Our degrees aren’t just about learning theory – you’ll build practical skills that will prepare you for work in this industry.
When you study with Walbrook, you join a global network of students and professionals across 130 countries. Our online finance degrees are flexible, so you can fit your studies around work and life.
The best finance degree for you will depend on where you want your career to go.
If you're aiming for senior financial leadership or want to develop a strategic perspective on finance, our MBA Finance or MBA Banking and Finance could be the right path. These are ideal if you already have professional experience and want to move into high-level roles in finance or banking.
For our postgraduate accounting and finance degrees, we typically look at your previous higher education or professional experience rather than A-levels.
However, if you're thinking long-term and planning on studying finance BSc, a BSc accounting or a BSc accounting and finance degree, subjects like further mathematics, economics, and business studies are great foundations. These subjects build analytical and problem-solving skills that are crucial in finance. At the postgraduate level, we also consider relevant work experience and how it has prepared you for advanced study.
At Walbrook, we offer three postgraduate finance degrees that allow you to tailor your studies to your career goals.
MBA Finance – for professionals ready to lead in finance, with a focus on strategic decision-making and financial leadership
MBA Banking and Finance – for those looking to step into senior roles in banking, investment or financial institutions
To enrol in our MBA programmes, we ask for a minimum of a 2:2 honours degree or equivalent, and at least two years of professional experience.
If you don't hold a previous degree, we still encourage you to apply if you have professional experience in the financial sector.
