How to apply for recognition of prior learning

If you're thinking about transferring to Walbrook from another institution, or you have already completed academic study or have significant professional experience, we may be able to recognise your previous achievements and count them towards your Walbrook degree. This process is called Recognition of prior learning (RPL).

You may be able to gain credit for up to 60 credits (usually four modules) for any of our degrees. This excludes the Research Development module and the Research Project module, which must be completed in full.

You can also find detailed information on the RPL process in our RPL policy.

Step 1 – Speak with an Enrolment Adviser

Talk to one of our Enrolment Advisers about your personal recognition options and for advice on the recognition process.

Step 2 – Complete the RPL form and apply for your degree

You must submit your RPL application at the same time as applying for your degree.
Recognition of prior learning cannot be applied after your studies have started.

As part of the form, you’ll need to upload documents that support your request. This may include:

  •  academic and professional qualifications and training/CPD activities (if they were gained in the last seven years)
  • your CV with detailed information about your career path and your roles and responsibilities
  • employment references or employer certificates.

Step 3 – Submit your application

Once submitted, our Admissions Team and Academics will review your application and confirm whether you’re eligible for module exemptions. RPL must be approved before you enrol on your programme.
