Over 147 years of expertise
Trusted by financial services firms across the UK for over 147 years, with a proven track record in professional financial education.

The Level 6 apprenticeship is the highest academic and professional milestone in the Walbrook pathway. It awards a BSc (Hons) in Financial Services and chartered status – a degree-level qualification that opens doors across the full breadth of financial services, earned while your employee continues to work, earn, and grow within your firm, using funding available from the apprenticeship levy.
Over 36 to 42 months, your apprentice earns a BSc (Hons) in Financial Services alongside the Chartered Associate of the London Institute of Banking & Finance (Chartered ALIBF) – a degree-level qualification that carries genuine professional weight across the sector. They achieve this while remaining in your business, applying what they learn at every stage, and building the kind of institutional knowledge and loyalty that external hires simply can't replicate.

This pathway is designed for ambitious professionals across the full financial services sector – not just advice firms:
Level 4 completers progressing within your firm
Experienced professionals in retail banking, SME banking, or fintech ready to advance
Professionals holding relevant Level 5 or Level 6 qualifications
Graduates
A-level completers entering the profession directly
Walbrook carries out eligibility checks and aligns the curriculum to your business before enrolment begins. Experienced professionals can enter directly at Level 6 without having completed Levels 3 or 4 through Walbrook.
Apprenticeship levy funding is available to employers of all sizes – whether you pay into the levy or not. Here's what that means for your business:
Levy payers (>£3M payroll)
Use funding from your apprenticeship levy account – 0.5% of pay bill, already contributed monthly. Funds expire after 12 months if unused. Walbrook navigates this for you.
Smaller employers (<£3M payroll)
Access 95% government co-investment – you contribute just 5% in monthly instalments.
Apprentices aged 16–25 (SMEs)
100% of training costs covered – free for the employer.
NI savings
No Class 1 NI contributions for apprentices 25 and under earning below £50,270 – saving approximately £3,000 per year on a £25K salary.
Government grant
£1,000 for every apprentice aged 16–18 at programme start.
Your apprentice studies one day a week alongside their role – combining online sessions, 1:1 tutor support, self-guided study, and workplace mentoring. Delivered sessions are run in cohorts, building both knowledge and professional confidence alongside peers at the same stage.
Your commitment as an employer is straightforward:
Assign a workplace mentor – starting with shadowing and progressing to signing off competence as skills develop
Attend progress reviews every 10 weeks with your apprentice and their Walbrook coach
Employ the apprentice for at least the full duration of the apprenticeship
You manage your apprentice as you would any member of your team. Everything else is Walbrook's responsibility:
Full guidance to set up your account and access your apprenticeship levy funding
Completing the Level 6 Chartered Financial Professional Pathway gives your employee a BSc (Hons) in Financial Services and chartered status – credentials that open career pathways across the full breadth of the sector, from relationship management and client services through to compliance, risk, operations, and leadership.
For those who want to go further, Walbrook offers two distinct onward routes:
Progress into postgraduate study
The BSc (Hons) gained at Level 6 is a direct entry qualification for Walbrook's MSc Business and Management with Banking and Finance – a Masters-level programme that develops senior leadership and strategic finance capability. This is the full "Level 3 to Masters" journey, made possible within a single provider.
Progress into advanced financial advice
Employees who completed Level 4 and want to pursue a career in advanced financial advice can go on to study the Level 6 Diploma in Advanced Financial Advice (Adv DipFA®) – a separate qualification that meets FCA examination standards and, with three years' relevant experience, can lead to chartered adviser status.
If you invest from Level 3, within five to six years – drawing on apprenticeship levy funding throughout – you can support employees to progress from entry-level learning through to chartered professional status while building their experience within your firm.
