A Master's in Psychology is a postgraduate degree that goes far beyond curiosity about behaviour. You’ll study how people think, feel, and behave, using psychological research to uncover the forces that shape everyday life.
At Walbrook, our MSc Psychology programme is a conversion course. That means you don’t need a previous degree in psychology to start. If your background is in law, business, art, engineering – it doesn’t matter. We’ll give you the academic education to work in psychology or a related profession.
You’ll move through a broad range of topics – cognitive psychology, social interaction, development across the lifespan, the biological basis of behaviour, and individual differences that shape how people think and act. You’ll learn to design and carry out psychological research, analyse your findings, and challenge ideas with critical thinking and clear communication.
We offer two psychology master’s degrees. Both share the same flexible delivery, core content, practical applications, and commitment to professional readiness – but each has its own focus. Find further information on our courses below.
MSc Psychology
A conversion course for graduates from other subjects who want to build a career in psychology. Covers the core areas of the discipline and develops advanced research skills.
MSc Psychology of Mental Health and Wellbeing
Explores how psychological theory can support mental health and wellbeing in clinical, community, and workplace settings. Designed for those drawn to health, counselling, and wellbeing roles.
Social Psychology – how other people shape what we think, feel, and do.
Biological Psychology – the link between brain, body, and behaviour.
Developmental Psychology – growth and change from birth to older adulthood.
Cognitive Psychology – memory, attention, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Personality and Differential Psychology – why individuals differ in traits and behaviour.
Ethical and Conceptual Issues in Psychology – ethical dilemmas and the bigger philosophical picture.
Research Methods and Statistics – designing studies, gathering data, and making sense of results.

An MSc in Psychology can lead to diverse careers in psychology and beyond:
Psychology careers: work directly with individuals and groups to improve wellbeing, performance, or learning. Apply theory to real cases, analyse behaviour and individual differences, and shape positive change across education, healthcare, or business.
Mental health roles: support recovery and resilience in community or clinical settings. Build trust, assess needs, and work alongside professionals to deliver interventions that restore confidence and strengthen emotional health.
Research and policy: design studies, gather data, and interpret findings that influence decisions. From government reports to corporate strategy, your research insights can guide action, address challenges, and shape future programmes.
Related fields: use psychological insight in HR, marketing, public services, or coaching. Improve communication, develop strategies, and solve complex problems by understanding the motivations driving human choices and actions.
A master’s in psychology can set you on the path toward practising as a psychologist, but it’s not the end point. Successful completion of an accredited conversion MSc builds advanced knowledge and research expertise, which are essential for taking the next steps.
Our MSc psychology programmes are designed to support your entry to those next stages. Which is why we’ve submitted our application for BPS accreditation, which is currently under review.
Depending on your goals, you may go on to pursue further study or training in areas such as:
Clinical psychology – supporting people with mental health conditions in healthcare environments.
Counselling psychology – helping individuals navigate life’s challenges through therapy and applied psychological methods.
Educational psychology – working with schools, children, and families to improve learning and development outcomes.
Forensic psychology – applying psychological expertise within the justice system, from rehabilitation programmes to risk assessments.
Accreditation by the British Psychological Society (BPS) is a mark of quality. An accredited psychology degree is recognised by employers, training providers, and professional bodies across the UK and internationally. It signals that a degree meets the British Psychological Society’s high standards for psychology education.
Our application for accreditation is submitted and under review. While we can’t give a specific timeline for the decision, we’ll keep applicants informed of its progress. If our application is approved, accreditation will be retrospectively applied to all students enrolled on the programmes.

Yes. Our MSc Psychology master's programmes are designed as conversion courses for graduates from other subjects. Whether your first degree is in business, law, arts, or science, you’ll cover the essential core areas of psychology – from cognitive and social psychology to biological bases of behaviour and individual differences. This means you can build the same foundational knowledge as someone who studied psychology at undergraduate level, while also developing the research skills, critical thinking, and practical applications needed for postgraduate study in the discipline.
In the UK, most psychology careers – especially those leading to chartered status – require completing a degree programme accredited by the British Psychological Society to gain GBC. Our application for accreditation is submitted and under review. While we can’t provide a specific timeline for the decision, we’ll keep applicants updated on its progress. If the application is approved, accreditation will be retrospectively applied to all students enrolled on the degree courses.
For our MSc Psychology courses, you'll typically need a UK undergraduate degree at 2:2 or higher in any subject except psychology (or an equivalent qualification).
Psychology graduates may apply if their degree doesn’t already give BPS accreditation.
If you don’t have an honours degree, we'll consider non-honours degree with clear evidence of independent empirical research experience, such as a dissertation or thesis.
These entry requirements apply for both international and UK students: overseas qualifications may be accepted and will be subject to evidence of equivalency normally verified through ECCTIS (UK ENIC).
English language requirements:
If your first language isn’t English, you’ll need to meet our minimum English language requirements. We accept a range of tests – details are on the programme pages.
We welcome international students who meet these criteria.
You can apply for our psychology courses online at any time of year. After submitting your form, our admissions team will review your qualifications and supporting documents, and may contact you for clarification. If your application is successful, we’ll confirm your place and guide you through the next steps, including payment of your first modules (full-time) or module (part-time), before your chosen start date. The fees quoted on our programme webpages include this initial payment of your first module(s).
