How assessments work for online degree students

You’ll respond to an organisational issue by developing strategic plans or business cases. They may include analysis of internal and external factors, market conditions, or financial impact – and will usually draw on models and techniques from your programme.

Point of the assessment:
To show how well you can apply strategic thinking and theory to business challenges – and present a clear, evidence-based plan.

What it involves:
You’ll design visually engaging posters that summarise a strategy, solution or set of ideas. You’ll also submit a short, written commentary to explain the content and its purpose.

Point of the assessment:
To present complex ideas simply and clearly, using visuals and concise explanations. It’s also an opportunity to show creativity and strategic focus.

What it involves:
You’ll write short, reflective pieces that explore how you’ve applied theory in practice, what you’ve learned, or how you’ve developed professionally through the module.

Point of the assessment:
To help you think critically about your own development, link theory to experience, and consider how your learning might influence future practice.

What it involves:
You’ll design infographics to present a business concept, project idea, or research summary, supported by a short, written explanation that clarifies your thinking and the insights behind it.

Point of the assessment:
To show how you can distil information, highlight key insights, and communicate ideas effectively using visuals and concise text.

What it involves:
You’ll deliver presentations explaining a strategy, proposal or analysis. Depending on the module, this might include a business pitch, a summary of findings, or a proposal for change.

To demonstrate verbal communication skills, structure and clarity of thought, and your ability to persuade or inform.

Your final research project is a substantial independent dissertation where you’ll investigate a topic related to your role or specialism. You’ll carry out research, apply relevant theory, and make strategic recommendations.

Requirements:
You must complete at least 75 credits before starting this module. You’ll be assigned a supervisor to guide you through the process.
