A global education partnership

Trade Treasury Payments (TTP), the IPSO-regulated media and data intelligence platform covering trade finance, treasury, transaction banking, payments and supply chain finance, and LIBF (formerly known as The London Institute of Banking & Finance), have announced a global strategic education partnership. It sets out to widen access to professional learning and to help sustain the specialist skills base that keeps trade, treasury and payments moving, at a time when much of the industry's institutional knowledge sits with a generation approaching retirement.

Six supported certificates

Under the partnership, TTP formally supports six LIBF certificates and vouches for the quality of their content. In payments and transaction banking, the Level 3 Certificate in Payments and Cash Management (CPCM), recently renamed to reflect its coverage of liquidity, cash management and corporate treasury alongside payments, takes students from the structure of the payments industry through to real-time payments, distributed ledger technology and digital currencies, and the systemic importance of moving money around the world.

Alongside it sit the Level 3 Certificate in International Trade and Finance (CITF), the industry benchmark Level 4 Certificate for Documentary Credit Specialists (CDCS), the Level 4 Certificate for Specialists in Demand Guarantees (CSDG), the Level 4 Certificate in Supply Chain Finance (CSCF), and the Level 4 Certificate in International Trade Risk (CITR), which LIBF launched in 2024 to address the growing complexity of trade risk. Several of these qualifications are developed with the International Chamber of Commerce and are studied in more than 90 countries.

Building a continuous learning ecosystem

The partnership responds to a challenge felt across financial services: an ageing workforce, fewer new entrants, and experienced professionals leaving faster than they can be replaced. Trade, treasury and payments are among the least visible yet most consequential functions in finance, underpinning the flow of goods, liquidity and working capital through the real economy. In a fast-changing market shaped by digitisation, new regulation and shifting risk, keeping that expertise alive and passing it on has rarely mattered more. Education sits at the centre of both organisations' response.

TTP brings its editorial platform to that mission. Readers can now record the time they spend engaging with TTP's journalism, analysis and multimedia and log it towards their continuing professional development (CPD). TTP has also classified its content as beginner, intermediate and advanced, so that its coverage maps to the LIBF learning journey, with foundational material supporting the Level 3 certificates and advanced analysis speaking to the Level 4 qualifications.

Opening up access to knowledge

TTP publishes without a paywall and does not gate its content, and has invested in its production capability, including TTP Studios, to make complex subjects easier to find, follow, and absorb. As part of the partnership, TTP Studios will produce a series of short features exploring each supported  qualification and the careers it opens up.

TTP is regulated by the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) and guided by an independent editorial board and a Global Advisory Panel whose members include Alex Gray of LIBF. The partnership extends a wider education agenda that this year has included TTP's support for the ITFA Emerging Leaders initiative and a learning collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Where formal, regulated qualifications sit with awarding bodies such as LIBF, TTP's role is to widen access to knowledge and to help practitioners keep learning throughout their careers.

LIBF, part of Walbrook Institute London, is a global leader in trade and transaction banking education. Its qualifications are recognised internationally and studied in over 100 countries.

Industry perspectives

This industry has such an important job to do, keeping goods moving, liquidity flowing and risk in check, and yet too few people know it exists and too many are leaving it. We built TTP to open up the liquidity and risk management highway to everyone who works on it, without paywalls and without gates. Partnering with LIBF, whose qualifications we genuinely rate, lets us connect the journalism people already read to a recognised path of professional development. In a changing world, that kind of learning matters more than ever.

Deepesh PatelManaging Director and Editor-in-Chief of TTP

TTP has quickly become a trusted voice for our profession. Bringing our qualifications together with TTP’s editorial, and recognising that learning happens through high-quality journalism as well as through formal study, helps us reach and support practitioners at every stage of their careers, and encourage the next generation into the industry.
