Level 3 Mortgage Adviser Apprenticeship

Develop the next generation of mortgage advisers – using apprenticeship levy funding

CeMAP® is the qualification the mortgage market knows, and it sits at the heart of this apprenticeship. Over 15 months, the Level 3 pathway builds the qualification into a structured programme of learning, workplace mentoring, and professional development – so your apprentice gains the technical knowledge and the practical confidence to advise well. It's a way to grow capability and capacity within your own team, whether you're welcoming someone new to the sector or developing a colleague already with you, using funding available from the apprenticeship levy. We'll support you and your apprentice at every stage.

Book in a call with Walbrook's Business Development Director Sally Plant or register your interest and we'll be in contact soon.

The skills your apprentice will develop

Over 15 months, your apprentice learns to work through the end-to-end mortgage process, assess affordability and suitability, advise on protection, and apply Consumer Duty in practice – studying for LIBF's Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP®) alongside a cohort of peers.

Skills develop in three stages: technical knowledge first, applied in your workplace second, then formally demonstrated. Evidence is reviewed with you and your apprentice before competence is confirmed – so you can see exactly how they're progressing, and their contribution to your team grows throughout the programme rather than arriving all at once at the end.

Who can enrol

This pathway is flexible – giving you real options in how you build your team:

  • School leavers entering financial services for the first time
  • Career changers moving into the sector
  • People stepping up from administrative roles, in financial services or beyond
  • Existing team members you want to formally upskill and qualify

We require school leavers to have achieved a grade 4 or above in both maths and English and all applicants will be subject to an initial assessment.

Walbrook carries out eligibility checks and aligns the curriculum to your business before sign-up begins.

Apprenticeship levy funding

Apprenticeship levy funding is available to employers of all sizes – whether you pay into the levy or not. Here's what that means for your business:

How it works in practice

Apprentices will study topics via our online platform before reflecting on what they have learnt with their apprenticeship coach. They will then attend a “live on-line" session along with other members of their cohort which is run by our dedicated trainer.

Apprentices take this knowledge into the workplace where they will shadow staff conducting specified tasks before gradually taking these tasks on themselves. All of this leads to the learners being signed off as competent by the employer under the guidance of the dedicated apprenticeship coach.

Your commitment as an employer is straightforward:

  • Assign a workplace mentor – starting with shadowing and progressing to signing off competence as skills develop

  • Attend progress reviews every 10 weeks with your apprentice and their Walbrook coach

  • Employ the apprentice for at least the full duration of the apprenticeship
